Today I chose to do research on how does poverty effect preschoolers. I chose this topic because I have seen several children that are living in poverty that are trouble in school. They are having learning disabilities, social and emotional problems. I have a daycare, several of my students are either TANF or low income. Those students are the students that I have to work the hardest with on learning and teaching them to get alone with others. Also I take to some teacher that have work with students that have come from Head Start and some seems to think that those students are not ready for school.
So far in this calss I have gained a lot of insight about research. My main insight I have gained is looking for relevant resources. I want all my resource to be good resource and not bad. After studying how to look for good resource I think I can find it. But my main thing is would I be able to fine enough information in order to do my research. Any suggestions?

Final Post
Today as I was reading other post, I gain many insights that help me to foster a healthy development about the education in international countries. I did not make contact but I did enjoy reading other blogs that made contact.
The consequences that have helped me gained insight on the international reasearch are gaining an understanding of the United States educations system and the problems in the US are the same in other countries. Another consequensce is that the children across the world lact the education growth they deserve. They are missing out mainly because of funds. The last consequences is that of the hunger and poor in the there countries keep them for keeping up on their schools and lack what is need to get an education.
This course has given me many resourses to follow the international organizations that helped me see that not only are there problems in the US but there are worst ones in other countries. My goal is to continue the research of international countries and make efforts to study a solution.

A VIEW from UNESCO
This week in the new of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization has several interesting links. One link that I really interested in was an article on The Right to Education. It explains that all human have the right to education and to get out of poverty is by having an education. Yet millions are still are in poverty because they lack education. Millions have not realized that to come up out of poverty help them emotionally and socially.
Another link was about Speaking your mother's tongue is not a disability. This is an interview with Dr. Colette Grinevald. Dr. Grinevald spoke in the interview about the mother language day. All the languages mothers need to send out a message to speak their own language. She identifies that more than 6000 language and only 200 are taught. A method called research action to help detect those languages that are not taught. She also states that it would help to have bilingual education because it would support the mother language on an "eradicate" altogether.

Sharing Web Resources
Today as I was looking as other sources to research, I decided to look at New Zealand. I read come others but they have one big issues that we have been studying. Today, the issue is about cutting funds to make quality education. I think we have heard about that quite often in last week on inequity in quality and in funds. The article was title Treasury Report Threatenn to Increase in Early Childhood Fees. The Treasury made recommendations to increase childcare fees and drop in the quality of education er the licensed body in New Zealand. The recommendation suggests that government target existing childhood funding to children in low income household. The budget cuts will put stress on the working family, and reduce the staff of qualified workers and last will cut in some of the school academic programs. These cuts were as result of childcare revenue cuts back in 2010. Also the council feels the children that are at risk will be getting in early childhood but have less achievement in primay and secondary schools. They do not support the idea to purchase of the cost of educational quality and increase fees for everyone else. The quality of education was an issue but these cuts will discuss when the new budget comes out in May 2012.
After reading these problems in New Zealand, sound like they are stressing with the some of the same issues we are in the United States. I know in Mississippi we are currently trying to seek funds to run some of the school districts here.

Getting to Know My International Resource
This week I decided to discuss the issues on the Global Children Initiative, because I have not heard from my international contact. I did find some of the same issues that we have been discussing and reading about in our resource in the Global Children Initiative.
Some of the main insights that I got from the web site. One was the Early Childhood. It was to adapt to successful center for global dialogue in the early years. Second was to generate and apply new knowledge about health and developmental needs.
Second insight was about the child mental health. This was assessing the state of mental health in Shanghai, Chili. Second, develop and evaluate a family-base strategy to prevent mental health. Finally, address the maltreatment in the Caribbeans countries.
The last insight is the children and crisis. The Global Children Initiative is exploring synergies to work on emergency situations across the world.

Sharing My Web Resources
This week has been interesting reading my web resource. I have been reading the e-newsletter on the web site of National Head Start. To answer the questoin for this week Head Start helped me get a feel of being and advocate and learning how congress handled the budget back in November, 2011 for Head Start. Considering the questions for this week
What specific section or information seemed particularly relevant to your current professional development.
Becoming an advocate for Head Start is part of my professional development. I would like to help and learn how to become the advocate to develop me professionally. I like Head Start and what it have to offer for children of low income families. A section in the e-newsletter gave a shout out to some advocates that gathered in Washington, D.C. to speak to congress about the importance of the programs in the district for Head Start.
What ideas/statements/resource/either website or in the e-newsletter did you find controversial or made you think about an issue in new ways.
In the newsletter, many of the articles were about funds and keeping funds. If Head Start is not well funded how are we to educate those children that are low income before the age of three to five. So to me these funds need to still be in Head Start to keep this age group in school.
What information does the website or the e-newsletter contain that adds to your understanding of how economists, neuroscientists, or politicians support early childhood field.
In the newsletter back in August, congress finally reached an agreement on raising the federal debt ceiling and managing the federal budget. Which means that Head Start is facing a battle to avoid major cuts. Currently, members of Head Start, administrators, and parents are asked to advocate Head Start to let politicians know how these cuts will effect Head Start.
Other new insights I gained. Head Start has been around for sometimes and it should continue receiving funds for the sake of children and their families. As I was closing I opened a letter from James J. Heckman, professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. He state that our nation spends billions of dollars on home land security, but we should and must deliver greater value to taxpayers investment. Human Capital is the greatest investment. The children, birth to age five, are of a disadvantage families are cost efficient and effective investment from preventing problems in education, health, social and economic productivity.

Getting to Know My International Contact
I have not made a definite contact with anyone. I have sent emails address and still no respond. So this week I looked at the web site for childhood poverty in China. I found that China is a rich country and that 5 percent lived below the poverty line in the year of 2001. From those stats, 4.2 million children live in absolute poverty. Also, the children in China that live in a disadvantage lively hood is 8.7 millions. These children were account for in counts of 2001. After reading about China, I know that China was a really rich county doing something for their children. The poverty is due to the social transition and the slow economic growth with. their country.
As I read this lesson and other counties this week, I makes me hard to believe that these number could be true about poverty. I have overtly is right in your face and we do not realize it.

Sharing My Web Resourse
Today I have taken interest in the Head Start field. Head Start hels many children with the foundation of learning. I attend Head Start and my mom worked for Head Start when they first come to our county in 1969. I have children but they were not able to attend the school.
The newsletter that I subscribe is the National Head Start Association and the link is http://www.nhsa.org/news_and_advocacy/advocacy/legislative_eupdate. The focus of Head Start is to service children from the age of 3 to 5. Some Head Starts have a Early Head Start. This program service children 6 weeks to a year. All those served are students that are from low income families. Today Head Start serves over 700,000 children throughout the United States. Establishing professional Contact and Expanding Resources
I guess I am like all of you trying to make contact and not succeeding. I did sent two emails out to Africa and their is still no resonse I saw that the NAEYC were affiliates with the African global allianace and I decided I would like to see how the children in Africa were taught in early stages and were some of their issues and trends in Africa. if this nation is so much in need for food, clothing , and some need for home, what were some of the other changes that could take the nation to some other changes. I did like to a podcat. This was interesting but I will only report on it if and only if my two contacts do not contact me.

I am working on my masters hoeing to become the director of a Head Start Center or a facilitator for some early childhood workshop.
