Some passion and motivational saying of my mom while she was in the daycare:
"Never do for a child that he can't do for himself."
"Remember the book The Little Engine That Could the train never said I can't it said "I think I can, I think I can". So remeber there is no such word as "I can't" my mom, Ms Henry RIP
Myra,
ReplyDeleteYou chose some very powerful statements! I especially like the one by Sylvia Chard. Helping children to discover they have a skill that can help them solve a problem is always very rewarding.
It's funny that your quote said that children need to know when to use what they have learned because that is so true. I remember sitting in math class and trying to figure out when I would ever use the equations that were being taught. I never realized that I would need it to teach other children.
ReplyDeleteMyra,
ReplyDeleteI like the quote you chose from Myra also. It is very important to learn skills and when to use them.. appropriately! I know some adults who teach that cannot execute this! As educators it is important for us to to be able to teach our students to use what we teach them and apply it to real-life.
